Education Presentation:Service Grounding & Bonding

Presentation will cover the NEC requirements for service grounding and bonding, including differences between grounding and bonding, electrical system grounding, grounding electrode systems and conductors, main bonding jumpers, bonding/grounding fittings and intersystem bonding termination requirements and fittings.

Presenters: Mike Stone from NEMA and Gregg Helmstetler of Southern Grounding Products
Mike Stone has worked in the electrical industry since 1974, and has been the NEMA West Coast Field Representative since August 2012.  Prior to working for NEMA, Mike worked for over 25 years in building inspection in California for the County of Monterey and the Cities of Monterey, Salinas and, most recently, as Building Official for Watsonville.  He is certified by the International Code Council in seven categories including Certified Building Official.  Prior to his building inspection career, he was an electrician and is a Certified General Electrician in the State of California.  He was the Vice Chair of the Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical and Energy Code Advisory Committee for the 2016 and 2019 Cycles of the Title 24 California Codes.  He is the alternate member representing NEMA on Code Making Panel 1 for the 2017 and 2020 NEC.

Gregg Helmstetler is the product & National sales manager for Southern Grounding products, a manufacturer of products for the electrical grounding industry.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Economics & Business from High Point University in 1988 and has held various positions within the electrical industry for nearly 3 decades.  Gregg is a current NEMA member on the Electrical Connector Technical Committee.
