Photovoltaic Systems Requirements and Plan Review Discussion

Photovoltaic Systems Requirements and Plan Review Discussion
Join other electrical professionals who install, inspect, design and review plans for Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems for a day of training pertaining to Article 690 of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and more. This seminar will help you know what to do, what to look for, and why on a PV installation, and the discussion will provide value for those with all levels of experience. Early-bird pricing ends July 17th.

The instructor is none other than Mr. Jim Rogers. Jim is an active electrical inspector and an International Association of Electrical Inspectors International Office Instructor. He has also taught for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He possesses hands-on knowledge as an electrician. Jim Rogers, IAEI Instructor

Jim represents the IAEI as Chair of NFPA Code-Making Panel 4. CMP-4 has purview over alternative energy sources found in the National Electrical Code® (NEC®) such Article 690 Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems and Article 705 Interconnected Electric Power Production. This panel reviews public inputs and public comments from people just like you and recommends changes to those alternative energy chapters of the NEC.

This seminar provides information about installation and inspection of solar photovoltaic systems and how they connect to other power production systems. The instructor will provide an overview of the major design issues and minimum Code requirements related to solar photovoltaic systems. The seminar will discuss topics such as:

  • types of PV systems
  • disconnecting means requirements and locations
  • requirements for ground mounted and roof mounted systems
  • equipment ratings
  • inverters and microinverters
  • grounding and bonding
  • rapid shutdown systems
  • labeling and marking requirements

This material is primarily based on the requirements set forth in the NEC.

Understand not only what the NEC says but why the NEC says what it says. Jim can tell you why the NEC changed, so that you are better aware and able to explain this to customers and contractors. Get your installations right the first time and keep the public safe. Register now to attend this valuable seminar.
