State law requires all communities to adopt the State minimum. West Virginia adopts the International Residential Code without the electrical section deferring to the NEC.
| Electrical Inspectors |
| "Certified electrical inspector" means a person who is certified by the state fire marshal as qualified to perform electrical inspectors. "Electrical inspector" does not inclue an inspector employed by the miners' health, safety, and training pursuant to the provisions of section eleven, article one, chapter twenty-two-a of this code. |

| This classification authorizes the electrical inspector to perform electrical inspections on one- and two-family dwellings only. |
