Electrical Codes
The NEC is adopted on local levels, although the NV State Board does require that the “most current NEC, as adopted by the county, be used”.

The State of Nevada does not adopt or enforce electrical installation codes or rules. It is incumbent upon each municipality, either a county or city, to implement an electrical enforcement program. The cities of Reno, Sparks and Carson City in West-Central Nevada are poised to adopt the 2005 National Electrical Code® on July 1, 2006. Washoe County, where these cities are located, has already adopted the latest version of the NEC®. It is anticipated that the cities, working together for consistency in adoption and enforcement, will adopt the electrical code without local amendments to the technical provisions. The other large metropolitan area in Nevada, Clark County/Las Vegas and the surrounding communities, have already adopted the 2005 NEC®. With the July 1 implementation, virtually all of the major population centers in Nevada will be using the same version of the NEC®.
