Electrical Codes
The codes and standards currently adopted and enforced by the Alabama Building Commission as the State Building Code are (as of Feb. 2, 2008):

- 2006 International Building Code
- 2006 International Plumbing Code
- 2006 International Mechanical Code
- 2006 International Fuel Gas Code
- 2006 International Fire Code
- 2004 Alabama Building Energy Conservation Code
Licensing: Electrical Inspectors/Services
The state does not license inspectors and does not require that they be certified. A few individual personnel systems require that inspectors be certified, but not many.

Licensing: Contractors
The Electrical Contractors Board licenses journeyman and contractors. The State Electrical Contractors certification is actually a voluntary certification, not a required certification.
